YWCA Cambridge is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Who We Are

Women Smiling on the Stairs, Housing Nonprofit, YWCA Cambridge

We work to bring out the individual strengths of women and youth and to foster resiliency and self-sufficiency. Our philosophy, in keeping with the mission of the YWCA to empower women and families, centers on providing the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

YWCA Cambridge has been part of the fabric of Cambridge since 1892, evolving alongside the city while staying grounded in what our neighbors need most. Today, we’re best known for our housing and supportive services, providing long-term stability for women at the Tanner Residence (103 single-room occupancy units) and short-term support for homeless families at Renae’s Place Family Shelter (10 units).
