Ending Violence Against Transgender Womxn
October 23 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Transgender people, particularly transgender women of color, are disproportionately affected by hate violence. In 2015, 67% of LGBTQ homicide victims were transgender women, according to the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs. The majority were transgender women of color.
Join us on Friday, October 23rd, at 6:30 pm for a workshop on ending gender-based violence against transgender womxn. The workshop will include clips from David France’s documentary, “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson” and an engaging discussion of both the film and the epidemic of violence perpetrated against transgender women of color. The documentary is available to watch in full on Netflix. Together, we will honor the lives of Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and other transgender leaders, and we call on you to join us to #ValueTransLives.
