A bit about Julie…

Julie Murphy is an artist and art educator living in Somerville and working in Beacon Hill. She teaches art, theater and cooking classes at Hill House Community Center and The Advent School. Julie attended Framingham State University where she majored in art, minored in education and earned her teaching license. Julie is a mixed media artist whose work is richly textured with metallic and fiber elements. Her work deals with themes of nature, cycles, rebirth and interconnection, as well as body positivity. Julie's work is characterized by organic lines, vibrant coloring, glass-like surfaces and echoing shapes, as well as the addition of found objects. Her primary color and motif inspiration is from the natural world, including flora and the colors of the sky and sea.
